US America chose - Chevrolet Volt and Ford Explorer

By custom, the winners "North American Car and Truck of the Year" is announced at the Detroit Auto Show. Eighteenth contest fix the car of the year, Chevrolet Volt, a winner of the category "Truck" became a Ford Explorer.

Car of the Year in North America competed in three Eco vehicles - two electric and one sedan (Chevrolet Volt, Nissan Leaf and Hyundai Sonata).

The victory of the Volt is not defined as a surprise. However, electric vehicle with increased mileage already won several awards, including "Car of the Year" in Motor Trend and Detroit Free Press, "Green Car of the Year" of Green Car Journal and others.

In the category "Truck of the Year", Ford Explorer was able to beat two other finalists - Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

This is the third consecutive year in which Ford won the award in this category. In 2009 the F-150 and in 2010 with the Transit Connect.
